Initial plan for the Kitchen Work.
Everything will be done by me with (*) subcontracted.
To change the kitchen, we need to complete a few things first:
[] rewire another overhead light.
[] install folding door for powder room.
Then prepare back room, basement and cellar:
[] test stains.
[] purchase possibly stains and polyurethane, sandpaper with supplies for application.
[] basement stairs and platform sealed, possibly stained.
[] clean laundry room
[] clean basement
[] clean cellar to access power, water cutoff, and plumbing under kitchen and half-bathroom.
[] move back door in storage to cellar.
[] move treadmill from porch to basement.
[] trim register location and put in register.
[] fix wall of laundry room and paint.
[] restore original siding on east wall along with kitchen window.
[] fix cellar floor and add sump pump and calculated perimeter drain and pipe.
[] fix dining room wall.
Now prepare the kitchen:
[] stow books in kitchen.
[] stow art in kitchen.
[] stow stuff in glassed cabinet to make room for necessities from other cabinets.
[] stow everything in cabinets (necessities go in glassed cabinet)
[] delicately remove upper cabinets and spice racks.
[] restore original siding on south wall up to tall windows.
[] buy two asbestos tests: one for plaster, one for drywall.
[] sample plaster and send for testing.
[] sample drywall and send for testing.
[] remove drywall and plaster to reveal studs to powder room
[] remove mold as needed and condition against mold.
[] buy 5 panel door for new entrance to powder room
[] take down chimney in attic and 2nd floor.
[] remove trim around old powder room door.
[] redo studs to create new entrance to powder room.
[] remove vinyl flooring in powder room.
[] remove vinyl flooring in kitchen on east side.
[] set up temporary location for toaster, coffee maker.
This is the point of no return! From here we need to be ready for no sink, no counter...
[] remove dishwasher.
[] disconnect sink faucet water.
[] remove lower cabinets, sink.
[] remove wall along exterior (preserve interior wall).
[] cut through exterior wall to add window.
[] add window.
[] electrical: 220vac, 115 vac above cabinets, around sink area. (*)
[] add lower cabinets, sink and counter and stove oven.
[] remove toilet, sink and wall paneling (including ceiling) from powder room.
[] cut access area for plumbing into kitchen ceiling.
[] remove powderroom venting and motor.
[] (does duct need to be resized?) hook up to duct for for hood.
[] remove plumbing not needed in powder room, repurpose plumbing for butlers pantry sink, pot filler. (*)
[] hook up main kitchen sink (*)
[] install dishwasher (*)
[] add pot filler.
[] add hood.
[] add electrical in butlers pantry including light fixture and under cabinet lighting and switches by door. (*)
[] rebuild wall for powder room.
[] add plumbing access panel and interior walls.
[] finish floor in pantry.
[] add cabinets and sink and mini fridge and connect faucet to plumbing.
[] finish floor
[] add 5 panel door.
[] refinish floor and add trim as needed for east side of kitchen.
Phase 2: rest of kitchen.
[] move essentials to new cabinets.
[] remove glassed cabinet, oven, refrigerator, cat corner, table, microwave, wall mounted stuff.
[] remove grid and overheat lights.
[] demo the ceiling.
[] demo walls as needed.
[] take down chimney in kitchen.
[] remove rest of vinyl floor.
[] clean mold as needed.
[] new electrical with lighting fixtures, refrigerator dedicated line, many outlets. (*)
[] add new walls and ceiling.
[] install new cabinets and refrigerator with new icewater line.
[] tiling.
[] paint.
[] new lighting fixtures, finish switches (*?)
[] bring back table.
After this: the bathroom upstairs!
