It is now too hot for me.
I woke at 3 a.m. sweating and with a dry mouth, so I put on my slippers and walked downstairs. I made myself a drink of water: half ice water, half seltzer but with enough room for some ice crescents. Instead of drinking it then and there, I took the TCM container to the back stoop and drank it there.
It was almost bearable, the heat, at 3:15 a.m., outside.
While finishing the drink, Crowley walked around back to see what was going on. He circled several times, each time coming closer. The last time he came up to smell my right slipper and foot, then meowed. He walked off and I got up. In the distance I could hear him meow again.
Brought with me to the stoop two small cardboard boxes. While sitting there I turned to pick through the metal objects and put them in one box. The other box is for wood and a few plastic objects of interest that I discovered while excavating.
Next time I come out I will bring a glass jar to take in the remaining glass objects. I am close to cleaning off the stoop!
Went back to bed feeling a little better. Good enough that I overslept until 6:13 a.m. I felt still too warm when waking up, but went through feeding six cats and making a fresh pot of coffee.
Venom wouldn't let me sit down until I played with him, which I did: I got out the cat toy which he enjoyed batting around, then he tired of that and got off the chair.
While drinking my coffee Eddie stalked Venom from the green chair as Venom sat on the St. Johns newspaper on the dining table.
My "gut" is barely holding its own with the heat. It is usually my own barometer of when it is too hot: diarrhea! I am trying to forestall that by drinking water.
Today and tomorrow will be the worst of the current heat dome, then there is a slight cooling trend until Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will have temperatures only go up to the low 90s, not the low 100s as expected for the next two days. Monday through Wednesday of next week the high temperature will only go to the upper 80s. I can do morning work then to finish the outside.
If I finish breakfast before 9 a.m. I may get that concrete slab positioned and off the wheelbarrow. If not I probably won't try this until Tuesday morning or Wednesday morning.
