The tools to rip out carpet are now all gathered. They were mostly from a box on the porch front window.
The front room is now walkable after having moved all of the boxes and items from the porch to the back room.
This enabled Hannibal to search out and get a mouse which he killed and then brought up to our bedroom!
Marisa and I had food from Tuk Tuk, a restaurant on N. Lombard which serves Thai food. We watched a movie "The Marvels" and enjoyed it. Not sure why it did not do well at the movie theaters last year. Also Marisa discovered that "Wild Wild West" is being streamed now!
Earlier in the day we watched a documentary on Soundies hosted by Michael Feinstein, viewed an episode of "Sea Hunt" and also an episode of "Outer Limits": "The Galaxy Being."
Today, after I have breakfast (and watch CBS Sunday Morning?) and get dressed, I will get busy and...

I left carpet under the dining room table and leading into the kitchen. That, plus the carpet under bookshelves, is all that remains of the carpet. I expect to remove more later this year, then want to investigate if I can hire someone to remove the tile and mastik, make repairs if needed, and do a thin sanding and stain, treatment. This is 200-270 square feet, so 200-270 12x12 tiles which need to be removed. Chiseling myself I can do two tiles a day maybe, but need more time to clean off the mastik and later sand. I may have to do this if the mastik or the 12x12 tiles have asbestos.
It may be possible to do myself with dry ice. It is a slow process, but might be worth it.
https://www.thespruce.com/how-to-remove-linoleum-flooring-5271584 Another option is a heat gun. Sounds scary but turn it on and wave it four inches or so above the tile it may loosen from the mastik and allow removal easily. Scraping the mastik may also be possible after heating.
https://todayshomeowner.com/flooring/guides/remove-vinyl-and-linoleum-floors/ Parts I can't remove can be sanded away with a drum sander with 32 grit sandpaper.
The other option is to add new wood over the old, but I hope to not do that.
Generally I think I would better off trying to do this myself.
