Vacation Day
I am technically not on vacation, but using a wellness day. I had a dream about overworking and I do need a day to relax and catch up, so now is the time!
Woke after 6 a.m., fed the cats and hauled out a bag with cat litter and a light bag of junk. Went outside past the complaining Crowley (the cat) and fetched the partially filled garbage garbage bin to roll up by the porch. Then I pulled out the two bags and stuffed them in, taking the bin to the curb. Yesterday I had already put out the completely filled recycling bin.
Tasks I will get to later today:
* rough bank balancing.
* collect bills.
* pay and post bills.
* get dressed.
* go to the ATM
* process all dishes, pots, pans and cat food cans!
* process 1st floor cat litter boxes and carpet.
In the middle of that I will get breakfast.
The painters did not return yesterday. So I expect they will be here today to do everything?! Don't know how they schedule their work. They got an early start on Wednesday after the carpenters left, so I would guess they are on schedule to finish today, but maybe they plan to be back on Tuesday (Boxing Day).
Anyway, things seem on track for the backroom project. I am looking forward to 2024 when we put final touches on our new spaces.
* door knob install for cellar

* window staining/protecting
* step staining/protecting

* baseboard and baseboard trim
* soil amendments and grass/clover seeding
* hardscape the approach to the back stairs from the triangle of flat rocks and from the driveway
* add extension to window well.

* add drainage stub to window well and use nicer rock at base with landscape fabric.

* carpet runner, rods, dust corners for stairs
* volute and ballusters
* better register covers
* bullnose for passthrough
* bullnose for bump above door
* better exterior vents
* paint rafters eggplant
* paint "medallions" eggplant
* water drain for under stoop
* base wood for under stoop
* add drawers with lattice for under stoop
* remove excess siding on east side of original house
* remove storm window from kitchen window
* restore kitchen window
* remove NK siding on east side and immediately weave in old and new siding.
* paint lower east side.
* remove old vent block
* remove dangly bit
* reinstall asbestos shingle where missing (at least until I tackle that).
* fix/secure downspout and put in rainbarrel.
* landscape "patio" area with walkway
