Backroom Catch-22

Jun 28, 2023 07:54

The main reason for the backroom project at Zolacmanor, House60, was to make it easy to access our cellar so I could go down there to sort through things and clean the area.

Now that we are doing the project, I find myself in the cellar moving stuff around and wish it was already cleaned up.

I needed the project done to do the cleaning but find myself needing to clean to get the project done!

It is a Catch-22.

Last evening for 3 1/2 hours I moved boxes so I could access the southeast corner of the cellar. I managed to get a vary narrow space for me to fit through so I could shove electronic equipment around. Paper items stored in the shelves there were moldy from water infiltration: either from the foundation or plumbing above. Equipment seemed ok. Most of the test equipment I put in a spare plastic storage box. I stacked my TCS gear and cables off to the side. The oscilloscope was moved further down the passageway.

The most difficult was moving the TCS power supply. It must weigh 100 pounds. I had earlier removed the cover for some reason.

It was grueling and solves nothing for me, but the shelves needed to be emptied so they could put a form in for the foundation wall.

I left access to the power box and water cut-off blocked.

When the foundation is back, they will probably need to remove the form through the door which may be difficult. So I will need to return to do more re-organization later.

For now, I am done.

After finishing, around 8:50 p.m., I came inside, washed my hands and plunked myself on the couch. Marisa was kind enough to get me some dinner.

I slept well...until around 3 a.m. when Marisa came to bed. One of my legs cramped. I could not easily stop the cramps so just lied there in pain. When that pain went away, I got a new tone in my right ear. With the fan on, it was difficult for me.

cramps, cellar, backroom, stuff
