Yep, happy birthday to us, tomorrow anyhow then we'll suddenly be older. Hot here in Oklahoma and I won't run an air conditioner, prolly a better idea to lounge around under a shade tree. I've been plotting on a way to replace my handler, that seems to be the easy part the difficult part isn't finding a handler but finding someone to baby sit my bird (and other animals). He's a macaw and they have to have attention, you can't shut them up in the house and make them stay alone for any length of time as it will drive them batty and because he's so important to me finding a house sitter is likewise important.
I've gotten September and October booked,so I have been busy. Everyone I speak with who wants to use Byron is happy to also provide a handler, so, he's easier to replace than my house sitter. I will approach the people who were doing that for me last year since his son has been watching the house. I had tried to get my cousin to do the task but he didn't feel that I gave him enough money for the task earlier this month (worked in Colorado over the 4th weekend), so, it's back to finding a house sitter.
I've Been off work for 20 days now, I'm simply not used to NOT working and I have one more month of idleness. The deal that I had booked July and August fell through just before July which didn't give me enough lead time.
Ah well, at least I'm getting done some of the chores which were in need of being done.
I'm not sure how it is for you but when the birthday comes up it seems always to bring problems with it. Quite a hassle. Hopefully this is not so for you and I also hope that you've been doing well and have been keeping busy.

It's our DAY now...
I didn't know you were at home, or I'd have been in touch more. Here, I thought you were getting lost in your world.
Most things have been fine for me, except for health concerns with my parents. My Dad had a minor stroke two weeks ago. He was driving and rear-ended a parked car. Luckily he wasn't hurt too badly, and there was no one else in the other car. He does not plan to replace the car and has stopped driving permanently...That's probably a good thing, but now he has to rely on my mother or me to take him everywhere. Since I am working all week, it means that my parents are going everywhere together. He loses some independence, but they take care of each other in so many ways, that he's going to be fine.
So are you heavier or thinner than you should be for the appearances? Off for two months? Damn!!! I could have come out for vacation with ya'...
Fourth of July I spend at the local park here. Three friends joined me this year. One suited up like I did, and the other two were wranglers. I did the whale and my griffin. Both of which I did some repairs to. I wanted them to be just "so" before I used them and put them away for awhile. The griffin still needs something for the hand paws to be colored or highlighted, otherwise he's perfect now. I even corrected some issues with the feet by gluing in some water sox.
Damn!!! It's too bad about your handler. If you were coming to Southern California, I'd take some time to do it with you. I'm sure they have people who are willing to be your handlers. They get to be with you for the entire appearance, and only have to reveal your other form a few times. They get to see all of your secrets and the magic of the bear. Gee, I wish I could be helping you out.
This weekend I'll be in San Diego for Comic Con. I will be doing the Star Wars Opening Friday night Midnight as my Royal Guard. I also have most of my blue Senate costume ready to go.
If you are interested and have some free time, I'll be heading to Chicago for MFF in November and visiting with a friend from Michigan. Still waiting for room cancellations, but lots of people book the rooms and then don't use them. Otherwise it's staying at a nearby hotel and then coming in costume to the Main facility.
I'll look for you online after this weekend!
Also, I'm getting the Big Guy robot ready for use. I'd have taken him down with me to San Diego, but then I wouldn't have room for anything else, and I specifically am going because of the Star Wars event at the Toys R Us!
Also, I'm carpooling and bringing at least one other trooper with me.
I hope you are having a wonderful birthday and get everything resolved. I just got two new costumes, and those are my usual birthday treat to myself. One is in perfect condition. The other needs some restoration. My bear suit is still in need of some help. I'll probably work on it last...
