Many many moons ago when I found Livejournal it was a free, open, and wonderous place. You posted what you were thinking no matter the subject matter. It was your journal and by GOD you could say what you wanted!!!
Alas, times have changed. Blogs are now the "next big thing" and employers are watching them like a hawk. If you say something about your employer in your blog, then you might very possibly find yourself unemployed. If you say something about the president you might very well find the Secret Service knocking on your door. In my tenure here at LJ I have seen both of these things come to pass. Not to me, but to several other folks in this grand social experiment. And while I am a die hard advocate of free speech and the 1st Amendment.....to be frank...I have bills to pay.
So...regretfully I have made this journal friends only. I'm not opposed to new friends, but due to circumstances in the world around us I am definitely limiting membership. If you add me, chances are I'll check you out and add you back. But I make no promises.
