Our internet was out without warning for more than 24 hours. That, coupled with Bill Clinton unexpectedly visiting campus yesterday, has made it very hard to get anything done this weekend. Now that the net's back, though, work is progressing at a pleasing speed.
I had my final Saturday night rotation for the semester last night (7:30pm-1:00am plus a little for closing). I actually left really early for work but, due to the aforementioned surprise invasion of campus, there was no parking anywhere. Honestly. I went to every parking lot I know of and nothing except for about two handicapped spaces and one 24 hour service vehicle spot. So I drove back to the apartment and Victor (being the awesomest roommate of all time and deserving of much praise) drove me to work. He picked me up at 1am, too. See? Awesomeness.
Moments that make me really dislike my job: When someone shows up for a loading bay parking pass (my least favorite thing to do) at the same time that someone shows up for Breakzone change (a process that always makes me mildly nervous) and someone shows up looking for a lost library card that the guy from Breakzone waiting for change confirms that he turned into us on Tuesday but that I can't find in our log or inventory because one of my colleagues seems to be atrophying when it comes to the Lost and Found and everyone says that they don't mind waiting while I take care of everything in the order that it arrived by then proceed to make impatient comments while I still can't find the dang library card but do find an unfiled student ID, wallet, and keys.
Moments that make me love my job: All those people leave (library card guy still unfortunately without library card, which I have left a note for my manager about), and I manage to find a contact number for the girl whose ID I randomly found and she actually answers her campus line and is so happy to have found out where her ID and keys are that I can almost hear her dancing for joy.
It's all about balance, I suppose.
