Why is abortion singularly a woman's choice? or even a choice at all?
Abortion is an issue of morality; This is true just as the killing of any adult or post-birth child is an issue of morality.
In any given society, there is a set of guidelines (ethics) that govern what the entity typically views as wrong or right. These social codes have purpose and are time tested. The American people ( as a collective group of people, assumed to have good intention) would not debate the grotesque nature of a sex offense, murder, or hate crime; this is a result of the moral code that holds our society together. We have been raised with it and it is ingrained within or collective conscious. How can a society with such a moral keystone turn a blind eye to the unborn and legislate the legality of murder, sex crimes or hate crimes?
Then comes the issue of a woman's right to choose. As the one's who biologically sustain life during fetal development, some feel that it is a woman's choice whether to allow the child to live off of them for 9 months or not. The choice my friends is in the physical intimacy. In America we are blessed with the freedom of choice: not the freedom from consequences. As a part of our collective upbringing, we are taught that actions involve reactions. Laws of physics and laws of life. Taking into consideration the great burden of motherhood and the pains of labor that women endure (and we as a society appreciate and applaud them for) we must take a stand for the sanctity of life and for the future of mankind. In addition to imparting situational ethics into the national take on an issue that is otherwise morally concrete, abortion has been legalized (as we all know) and is being executed (with government support) at the gut-wrenching rate of 4,400 people* per day.
Once a group allows their codes of decency to become blurred by circumstance and situationalism (I believe I coined that term) they introduce the potential for the burning of the fabric that pieces together their moral flag.

Brick by brick I walk on.'

Legal abortion is reported as the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the United States.
* Speaking strictly biologically, it is used in this context: they have 46 chromosomes, produce their own tissue and carry out bodily functions. I don't know how else to define a person without injecting my own theological views.
