Ok, first thing´s first:
MG: I´m still disturbed that your grandmother licked your ear
Sam: Yeah, it doesn´t leave a physical scar, but it´s pretty emotionally disturbing.
DC: No kidding!
later that evening:
(talking about two really annoying guys)
Lauren: So, I think I´m not going to shave my armpits to gross them out.
Sam: I´m totally going to stick my tongue in their ears.
MG: That would probably ruin the trip, but it would be totally worth it!
Sam: I do that when I´m really mad at people.
MG: You know, if someone did that to me I´d be more offended than anything. I´d be like, REALLY? You´re mad at me?
Sam: Yeah I totally did it to my exgirlfriend this one time. She never forgave me.
MG: You might not want to try that with your new one. There are probably better methods, like telling them you're ang-
Sam: Like talking it out?
Ok, now for the real stuff.
This is my third day in ecuador. This place is awesome! Last night we stayed in this hotel that would be perfect for a honeymoon. No phones, no tv, a fire place, secluded cabins surrounded by beautiful gardens. It´s freakin unbelieveable. Even the mountains are different from any other mountains I´ve ever seen. They´re patchwork where people live, and dry in other places. They´re all volcanos, so they are made from ash and limestone. They crumble when you touch them in places.
We´ve been hanging around in the markets and doing some serious shopping. Everything is so colorful and so quiet! People walk around in native costumes with sheep tied to their backs and chickens under their arms. Oddly enough, everything is also very quiet. We tend to attract a lot of attention with out boistrous boys. (mentioned above)
Yesterday was my birthfay. My roomate (who rocks my socks) bought me a tastey blackberry juice to go with the tastiest lunch I´ve had in a really long time! Then everyone surprised my by singing happy birthday and putting candles in my bread pudding. Trick candles. I laughed so hard! Then that night, they surprised me again with a live band and chocolate cake. And more trick candles. Seriously, I couldn´t have imagined a better 21+1 birthday.
Today, I crossed the equator. Several times, in rapid succession. We got to do all kinds of fun equatorial tests, like balancing an egg on end. Also, my friends tried a national delecacy: guinea pig. Yum. Right after we saw the real shrunken heads. Mmmmm.
Anyway, I´ve takend a ton o pics and bought so many souveneirs that no doubt all of you will be hearing about this for a long time!
Love you!
PS
It´s true about the toilet thing. They go counter clockwise in the north, and clockwise in the south. I have seen it with my very own eyes.
Also, there is sex everywhere here. My roomie bout a set of masturbation pens (they have figures of people masturbating) Also, there are some very graphic statues for sale. Like, ball hair and insode of vagina graphic. Little metal mobile statues, so you can even see some action. Apparently it´s also mating season here. It´s killing me. I´ll bring back some good videos ;)
