It was bad enough already that Lukas had delayed the Bells' arrival to Diagon Alley. Despite Katie's incessant whining earlier in the week that he be prepared prior to the 24th, a low store of Floo Powder still awaited them that morning. Even worse, when a sufficient amount could be borrowed from the neighbors -- no easy feat when the nearest manor was twelve furlongs over rolling, wet and slippery hills -- Charlie Weasley hadn't even been home. George had stammered off some apology or another but Katie hadn't been listening; she had near worn a hole in the floorboards pacing, more than happy to slug a bruise into Charlie's arm when he finally arrived. His Ministry meeting excuse did not help his plea in the least.
By some greater good, the troop had managed to arrive at Bodmin Moor in one piece, more or less, apart from part of Charlie's Ministry robes but no one could be bothered by a bit of missing fabric. At least this time he hadn't bled on anyone. And it was all worth the delay, in Katie's mind, having the opportunity to catch the former Quidditch captain at his best.
"You still haven't changed a bit, have you, Wood?" Katie grinned, her arms crossed and her hips cocked, a strained smile on her lips as she suppressed the urge to immediately laugh at his antics. The rest of the group filed in the seats behind Oliver.
