Ginny had been laying on her bed, absorbed in a novel, when Ron knocked, and it was reluctantly that she put her book aside and stood up, opening the door partway with a frown. Not that she wasn't glad to see her brother, of course, but she would have rather it been Harry. If this was a 'warning' talk about her relationship, Ginny was going to owl Hermione with embarrassing photographs of Ron, and to hell with the consequences.
"Yes?" She eyed the mug in his hand, and raised an eyebrow. "It must be important, if you brought tea. Something on your mind?"
"Errr..." Ron said and peered over Ginny's shoulder. "If your busy I can come back when it's not so early."
Ron took in Ginny's rumpled bed, the book laying open, and the pajamas that seemed to be just a tad too big for her. In fact if he wasn't mistaken that was Harry's shirt and he thought about asking when she nicked it from Harry.
She ignored the look on Ron's face as he took in her appearance, and waited until he was somewhat settled. If he'd brought tea and biscuits, it was far more important than just a brotherly warning. Unless he was really trying to avoid serious punishment. "Spill, Ron. And hand over the biscuits." Ginny held out her hand and waited for whatever it was that was bothering her brother enough to drive him to come talk to her in private.
"See it's like this," Ron began and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "I asked Hermione out and realized I don't really know what you do on a proper date."
Ginny's eyes widened and Ron held up his hand to stop her from speaking if only for a moment.
"Look," Ron said. "Let's face Lavender and I didn't date. Harry says we writhed around like eels. I don't want to mess this up Ginny...It's too bloody important and you know I'm pants when it comes to this romance stuff."
Ginny tried very hard to keep a straight face when Ron described his and Lavender's antics: Harry had definitely been right in his description. But she could tell Ron was serious about wanting to do things right this time, and she couldn't help but want to help him. After all, Hermione was her friend, and she knew this date meant a great deal to both of them.
"Well, first thing. Did you have any ideas at all as to what you were going to do?" It would help if Ron had some idea of what he wanted this date to be.
