The best thing about her detention cell was that it had great acoustics, Narcissa thought, almost as good as singing in the loo. She hadn't dared sing at home for the past year, with the Dark Lord and everyone else in the house, but here...there was nothing better to do, and the guards hadn't thrown rotten tomatoes at her yet.

She remembered singing to Draco when he'd been young, singing in the garden, singing spells under her breath, humming to herself as she put perfume on and prepared to join Lucius for the night. For the first time since entering detention, she felt taken out of herself, almost as if she were casting a Patronus.
And perhaps, in a way, she was.
