Austenian musings
So, I not only forgot that I'd seen the 2009 version of 'Emma' with Romola Garai and Jonny Lee Miller (<3), but I also forgot that it existed, and was super excited to find it.
Then I wondered why parts of it seemed so familiar, but chalked it up to estates that had been used in numerous other Jane Austen adaptations, as well as it being the third 'modern' (ie. 1990s or later) version of 'Emma' I've seen, and there is only so much you can do to differentiate the same characters and the same words. Then Bryan got home and insisted that he'd seen it, and that I'd watched it with him.
Then things got more familiar...
It bothers me because it makes me wonder if I should be actually concerned about the state of my memory, but I can't believe I didn't remember Jonny and Romola and Michael Gambon! It's the only version of Miss Woodhouse that I didn't want to smack for being so silly. Gwenyth Paltrow (1996) annoyed the crap out of me (as she often does), and Kate Beckinsale (1997) was just too oblivious.
Oh well, off to Walmart and beyond!
