This girl's corsets don't blow me away, but I WANT her velvet shrug! Would it be douchey to ask where she got it, without having interest in her own product? Especially considering she's in England, so it's probably not something easily attainable this side of the pond.
I'm also kind of really digging
these. Now obvz they are not work-friendly, where the shrug could be, but are they too cheesy? Do they scream teenage goth-rebellion? Or would they be just fine for a clubby night out?
Parenthetically, I have also been coveting CrisisWear's Aeronaut bolero since Kinetik last year. So pretty! It's all flash, so
click here, and then choose 'Women's Collection' -> 'Jackets' and it's the first one. (It'll cycle to the next piece automatically, but you can click on it, and it'll stay put.) I also enjoy their MedTech dress, though with not quite so much vigour.

I think what it comes down to is that I want to take advantage of not having any clothes that fit and use it as an opportunity to redirect my wardrobe, and by extension my identity, into something that feels more "authentic" (to use my anthropologist's nemesis).
I'm not trying to fit into the stereotype of 'goth' so that people will look at me and say 'look at the goth chick.' I think I'm trying to find a place that says 'She's different.' And maybe that means interesting?
I can't be too epic for work, or I'll scare away business, but I don't want to be boring and invisible anymore. I'm tired of hiding. And I'm still bugged by my boss's statement from a few weeks ago that, 'We're all basically corporate goth, because all of us wear black all the time.' If that's an attitude that resonates with Normals, then how do I break away from that to stand out as someone different from the rest of the pack? How do I corner the conservative jewellery market with the alt crowd? How do I make the kid wearing the Manson t-shirt feel like I'm closer to his kind of people than I am to the rest of the boring normal sheeple out there?
Is it makeup, shoes, accessories? Or does it take a full force wardrobe overhaul? I'm not about to start wearing floor-length velvet dresses, or PVC anythings, so where do I go? Where should my now-babysteps take me?
