The Adjustment Bureau

Sep 12, 2012 00:29

I know it's somewhat late (damn, I'm getting old), but I just watched a film entitled, "The Adjustment Bureau" starring Matt Damon and that girl who played the other secretary in Devil Wears Prada. It's curious that I should watch it tonight, given my earlier post on the various and manifold forces surveilling (and presumably, adjusting) our world in a comparatively covert manner. I am not suggesting anything more intelligent than basic synchronicity, but the film has semi-continuously appeared on programming schedules at the times I was channel-flipping of late, and had piqued my interest... tho' never sufficiently to actually view it before this evening.

Suffice it to say, I found the film very interesting and enjoyable, to the point I consider it one of those under-appreciated gems of cinematography. Maybe not on the level of "V for Vendetta" under-appreciated, but still... a surprisingly novel and well-executed piece, at least as far as it went. No overwhelming kudos, but it helped me pass a couple hours (which, in my tedious existence, is of rather greater value than it used to be. I'll leave it to others to decide for themselves how pathetic that is or isn't. Lol).

I guess it's fair to say that I am snapped a bit out of my detached ennui tonight, and am thinking rather hard about my life and my habits, my associations... and specifically, my passions (or lack thereof).

NEwho... I'm getting ready for bed, half-watching "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" as I type this, and wondering if a midnight snack is in order before I turn in? I'm a boy, so of course it is. Natch! I have sometimes thought it something of a cosmic injustice that women have spectacularly better orgasms than men (tho' one imagines childbearing balances that out), but at the same time... I think men enjoy food immeasurably more than women (some chocoholics excepted).

Mmmm... Brie en croute... Aggglll...
(Speaking of cosmic injustices, that I have only some microwaveable lean-pockets to consume following after thoughts of Brie en croute is right up there with X-Men: The Final Stand concluding without a single, flaming Phoenix Effect!)

p.s. Speaking of the Phoenix Effect, you can see it in Harry Potter & The Deathless Hallows: Part II, in the Room of Requirements sequences (twice, even!). If you slow it down, you can even read in the flames words to that effect... that is should have appeared in the X-Men film. Lol.

p.p.s. Some ginger-sesame vinagrette greatly enhanced the palatability of the aforementioned lean-pocket. :)
