i haven't posted in a while.probably because i forgot the point of creating this journal in the first place, which is so that when i get older i can look back at my thoughts and think to myself "what the fuck was i thinking?"
well my thoughts this day are with words namely the word "love." which is probably one of the more useless of an entire language of useless words. i say "more useless" because this word more than most others in this useless language(ill explain why i think the language[that is not to say that it is any more useless than any other of this worlds languages] is useless, later) is debatable on the subject of it's definition. this is not to say that the dictionary doesn't define clearly the word "love" and even offer a few synonyms. no that is to say that any person you ever meet will have a different internal meaning of the word. because were not using it to describe something tangable here. its not a fucking sea turtle or a rocking chair. well here's the definition from dictionary.com
1. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.
3.
1. Sexual passion.
2. Sexual intercourse.
3. A love affair.
4. An intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object.
5. A person who is the object of deep or intense affection or attraction; beloved. Often used as a term of endearment.
6. An expression of one's affection: Send him my love.
7.
1. A strong predilection or enthusiasm: a love of language.
2. The object of such an enthusiasm: The outdoors is her greatest love.
8. Love Mythology. Eros or Cupid.
9. often Love Christianity. Charity.
10. Sports. A zero score in tennis.
and here the synonyms:love, affection, devotion, fondness, infatuation
i like the idea on one though... a sense of underlying oneness. thats cute.
anyway, if asked about the meaning of "love" nobody is gonna give you those answers. except maybe a tennis coach. number ten is right on. good work number ten.
now, without further inturruption, an explanation of why i have deemed this word "useless." again, if asked about its meaning anyone will say something different from your own belief of its meaning. and each different person will have something different from the last, on into infinity. so if there is an infinite number of meanings for the word then it should be noted that it has no single meaning. not one single meaning. none. there is no meaning to the word. warning: this may get very repetitive. you might want to stop reading now..... ok so if you are asking me to love you, you are asking me to do something which we both define differently. therefore, i will dissapoint you. i will not "love" you because i will not have the feeling that you wanted. since what you wanted was what you feel when you love. vice versa.
this renders love undefinable. if it cant be defined then it has no definition. if it has no definition then it is not there. its not real. right? well, that cant be because, as derek so clearly stated in his journal earlier today, i love ******** ******* and a while back i did love ****** ******. im not saying that either of them love me. and im sorry ********, if you find it in any way offensive that i feel and sense of underlying oneness with you. i guess thats just my bad. so, if i feel my own version of love and ********(as she said it) feels her own version of love, then it does exsist, doesn't it. i mean, she doesn't have to feel it with every breath as i do, just to feel it. and just because my feeling are different from hers doesn't mean that i dont feel it. because we have the right as individuals to feel what we want.
1. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.
oh and about the english language being useless... it is because all words invoke different emotions and ideas in the subconcious based on the different things each speaker has felt and learned in his or her past. therfore every word you speak to someone goes out your mouth as one idea and into the listeners ear another. rendering each word useless.
im tired and hungry.. taco bell. peace
