Originally uploaded by bylinemjf. Do you remember my weed plagued backyard from last summer? Well, despite the task seeming daunting, George, Andrej and I managed to get it to the point where at least my grill could fit back there.
A lot of weeds grew back this summer, and while I wanted to eradicate them, I wanted something more - something resembling a garden of my own. I was pretty sure it couldn't happen, and resigned myself to at least trying a few herb pots in the backyard. John convinced me, though, that the task was do-able, and we set out to make it happen, despite my skepticism (with some help from Andrej later in the day). Believe it or not, as of about 7 p.m. last night, I have a garden! Tomato plants, sage, mint, marigolds, chives, green onions, dill...it's so exciting!
Today, I'll add a basil plant and tie and cage my tomatoes, plus put a bit more top soil on top. I'm so excited, and so grateful for the help I got as well. Yay, garden! More pictures here.
