Weekend Roundup

On Friday, Andrej and I went to see "Get Your War On", which was entertaining, if flawed. We had dinner at Matchbox, whose mini-burgers I find addictive and whose martinis are apparently NOT on special if you're not at the bar. We ended the night with some Scrabble with Scrabbilian virgin Vanessa and some Ali G when Kari joined us.

Saturday was the Big Carpet Cleaning of 2006. Yes, our carpet is clean. Those who know me can anticipate how much I care about this development. I got my haircut at a non-Hair-Cuttery salon for the first time in years...and ended up getting some highlights to mark the occasion. I'm less arguable as a blonde now, hehe. George, John and I went to the Caps' home opener. I have to say, I really like hockey. It's weird, as I'm not a sports fan normally, but I had a blast for the second time in a row that I've attended a game. There was a Pub Crawl included in our ticket (though we did less crawling and more spending-too-much-on-drinks-at-Drinx, which had good food, but inexplicably (given the place's name) no drink list. Slash decent service. We played some games old and new afterwards (John got a new puzzle game that was really fun, I broke out the "Guillotine" that Rachel bought me for my bday) and we ended up crashing there when we realized it was 4 a.m. Well, I didn't exactly reaaalize, as I'd fallen asleep on the couch, but hey.

Sunday was the anticipated Del Ray Day Trip with Jen and Audrey, which was SO much fun. We'd stopped at a vintage clothing stop to get directions to a restaurant, at which we were steered to a different place for brunch, which was EXCELLENT. It was a day of eating - cute coffe shop, chocolate shop, Cheesetique, Taquiero Poblano (which is my new favorite Mexican place in the area, a coveted title) - it was insane, but so fun. Del Ray is majorly cute, and it was great to have a girls day out. I had grand plans to get work done when I got home, but work got translated into napping, making stew and watching "House" episodes...
