So yeah, only two hours into it and I've already had an awesome birthday.
This evening was my birthday get-together, and it was so much fun. Jen V, Jen R, George, Audrey, John, Kevin, Jess, Ray, Andrew, Brad, Lee, Rebekka and Kari all made it out for a portion of the celebration. We had dinner at
Sette Bello, a fairly new Italian restaurant I've been wanting to try in Clarendon. Since no one I know had been there, I was a little worried about how it would go, but it was the perfect location - the service was outstanding (almost insanely so, as we were starting to wonder if the waitress had supersonic hearing or if our table was bugged), and the food was great! Brad and I split pumpkin ravioli and risotto Milanese. I preferred the risottos ordered by the Hollers and John (green pea and sausage, respectively), but they all were very well prepared, and the ravioli was RIDICULOUSLY good. We also got two plates of delicious antipasto, including cheese and cured meats! I was so pleased that so many of my friends came out to celebrate.
Afterwards, we went back to my house for excessive desserts (Jen had brought a pie, she and I had made a pirate cake for John, whose bday is Tuesday, and John made a cake for me) and Manhattans (used my new drink set from Ray and Andrew). We played a few spirited rounds of Taboo and Encore, just to make it a total Missy night. Lee, by the way, is arguably as good as me in both Taboo and Encore, so he will have to become a game night fixture.
And the gifts! I totally got spoiled. Jen Reiter managed to make me blush with her gift of a vibrator and accoutrements for it (though I can't say it wasn't appreciated). Jen, John, Andrej and Babs went in on a ROTISSERIE for my GRILL, which was such an awesome idea; I seriously can't wait to use it. I got Barnes and Noble gift certificates from both R&L and A&R, a really cool grill book from George and a bunch of great yoga stuff - mat, mat bag, block, etc. - from the Hollers. I can't believe how much I raked it in, hehe. I feel like next year I need to put "No Gifts Necessary" on my invite.
At any rate, it was a wonderful way to spend the mark of my 26th year. Thanks, guys!!!!!!!
