Well, it really was the perfect hot summer night.
Right after work, I decided to walk down to Georgetown (about a 50 minute trek) to meet Audrey, Lee, Rebekka and their acquaintance/friend Augustina, who was visiting from Argentina. The walk was sweaty but enjoyable, and I met the group down at the fountain near K and Thomas Jefferson around 6:30.
Unfortunately, Lee informed us that Rebekka was experiencing car trouble and waiting for AAA over near Capitol Hill. The four of us headed to Miss Saigon for dinner (I had shrimp toast and quail soup, and both were excellent, if the latter less than weather appropriate). Rebekka stumbled in just as we were finishing, which was earlier than we'd expected her to arrive, and fortunate.
We wandered Georgetown a bit before stopping at Moby Dick Kabob House so R could get some dinner. We decided to "picnic" at the park near the water as she ate. Audrey's friends Rich and Co. met us, and Babs left us to catch a horror movie. Rebekka suggested a trek to Dremo's, my favorite bar, about a half hour walk away.
Augustina's going to leave this country thinking people walk EVERYWHERE.
Dremo's was a blast. Augustina was incredibly charming, and I can't tell you how much I enjoy Rebekka and Lee's company (they're new friends, so we haven't hung out all that much in the past). We discussed everything from roommate dramas to Argentine politics.
At around midnight, we parted ways, and I trekked the brief (at this point) walk home from Courthouse. I loved the spontaneous, wandering feel of the evening (and any night where you can mix fun and exercise is worth having, hehe). What a fun night!
