Had a nice scare Saturday. A small plane carrying 12 skydivers crashed near us. Two blocks shy of missing Melody's house. Plane went over my house to get that far. The 12 jumpers were able to bail out, but the pilot rode the plane down. I guess he was trying hard not to crash on anybody. He clipped a tree allegedly one of the oldest and biggest in town. He died in the wreck. Anyway, we are safe though it sounded like it was coming in the back door. Our mailman said he thought it was coming right down on us. Melody is safe and that's what's important. When a tragedy like that happens all you want to know is that friends and family are safe.
And all of us should be thankful that the pilot told his passengers to bail out on him, that he was able to dump his fuel load, and finally that he was able to control it enough to hit someones empty back yard and not slam in on their house or BBQ.
Condolences to his family. He was a hero at 11:30 am. When we needed him most.
