This is such a great tutorial and seems like one I could actually understand (for once), but I have PSP. Is there someone who can translate this?

It's actually the same in PSP. All the effects I used are the same as in PSP (such as setting the layer on multiply, setting it on "screen" etc.)

For some reason when I followed all the directions, the image looked the same. What am I doing wrong?

One other thing: What does desaturating do and how do you do it in PSP?

Desaturation is basically taking the colors out of a picture. You can do that by lowering the saturation of the picture to -100 (or whatever the limit is). I'm more familiar with photoshop, so I can't recall off of the top of my head how to adjust the saturation (I'm sure you could find it, though). An easy way to cheat is to set a new black layer to either "color (legacy)" or "saturation (legacy)".
