Dream a Little Dream of... Whales?

I've had THREE dreams about whales (or with whales IN them) during the last week or so, and I don't remember EVER dreaming about whales before, so it seems like it might be significant.

The first one was the most benign. I was in an indoor/outdoor type place with a multi-level pool with water flowing between the different levels. The different levels were comprised of pools of different depths, with the highest level being the deepest pool, and there was a small whale living in that one. There were also some salmon swimming around. They were able to jump from pool to pool whenever they felt like it.

The second dream was the most horrible. It took place in the same setting as the first, and I was giving a man (unknown to me) a tour of the place while one of my dogs was walking around with us. When we got up to the level where the whale was, I brought out some whale-food in fist-sized chunks. As I threw it into the water, I thought, "oh no... this is a bad idea," but it was too late. My dog jumped into the water after the food, and as soon as he did, I turned away (towards the guy... the stranger), and he told me that bad things were happening. When it was over, we got into the water, and I scratched underneath the whale's jaw to get him to open his mouth, hoping that my dog would still be in his mouth and that he would be okay. When the whale opened his mouth, all that was left of my dog was his skin and his head. Then the telephone rang and woke me up. Whew! That one stayed with me all day. WHY didn't I CALL my dog to me or jump into the water after him or something??!?!

The third dream happened last night. There was more to it than the whale stuff, but I don't remember the details very well. It involved large groups of people in an outdoor setting, and it may have been kind of militaristic. In amongst everything else that was going on, a whale had become trapped in between two docks and was severely injured by them. We moved the docks around to use them to restrain the whale in one place so that he might have a chance to heal. He was expected to die, and the fact that he was still alive at all was really impressing the heck out of folks, like it might be a good omen or something. Weird, huh?
