“I can’t take this anymore!”

Blaine looked up, started by Kurt’s sudden outburst. The boy stood up from his desk, slamming both palms on top of it with a resounding smack that reverberated around the room.

“Kurt?” Blaine raised an eyebrow. ”What’s wrong?” The rest of the class was staring at Kurt, eyes wide. One boy even had his mouth open and was drooling, though Blaine was rather certain that it was because he had dozed off near the beginning of the lesson.

“This!” Kurt waved one of his hands. ”Blaine, don’t you understand what this is doing to me? I’m exhausted! I barely sleep anymore and when I do, it’s because my father forces a sleeping pill down my throat and makes me pass out for eight hours, and you know what happens then?” He didn’t wait for anyone to ask. ”Then I never finish my homework or get back to school on time! It’s just not fair!”

“What’s not fair?” Blaine wasn’t entirely sure what Kurt was referring to.

“What’s not fair?” Kurt echoed, hands slamming onto his desk again. ”Are you an idiot? You made the drive to Lima! You know how long it takes to get from Westerville to Lima! So you try driving both ways five times a week and then you can come talk to me about something not being fair!”

“Kurt, come on, your commute’s not that bad,” Blaine tried to reason with him.

“Shut your face!” Kurt ordered. ”Shut all your faces!” The boy Blaine had thought was dozing closed his mouth immediately. ”Now, somebody get me a cot and a sleeping pill and when I wake up from my eight-hour nap, I’m going to go have a word with Ryan Murphy about making Dalton a boarding school. I’m fed up with driving four hours every day just because he’s convinced I give Finn warm milk!”

Kurt collapsed onto the floor, sobbing, as two boys rushed off to do his bidding. Blaine sank to the floor next to him, wrapping his arms tightly around the trembling boy, holding him close and rocking him gently.

“Shh,” he said soothingly. ”It’s okay. Everything will be okay.”

“I don’t even like milk,” Kurt whined. ”And I’m just so tired all the time!”

“We’ll get you to bed right now,” Blaine assured him, taking the box of sleeping pills from the returning boy and watching as Kurt downed one even without the aid of a glass of water. The other boy returned with a cot soon enough, unfolding it and setting it up for him, Blaine helping Kurt crawl up onto it.

“You’re not allowed to leave,” Kurt told him matter-of-factly. ”Stay put.” And he promptly dragged Blaine up after him, snuggling into the other boy’s chest.

Even though the cot was way too small for the pair of them and they were probably facing expulsion or something for the combined effect of Kurt’s outburst and now sleeping in class, Blaine couldn’t bring himself to care. It was like a crack had opened on their universe, making such strange things okay.

Besides, it wasn’t every day Kurt Hummel asked him to cuddle.
