Brad and I have been feverishly working on our house in preparation for the arrival of his mother who is coming to stay with us at the end of the month. This would account for our lack of social activities. This however does not mean we still don't love you guys and love to hear from you all.
So, the strangest thing happened last night -- Steph, Brad and I have been painting all weekend (mostly Steph and Brad). Last night, after Steph left, Brad and I desperately needed some cheap food. We decided to head to Old Chicago for Happy Hour. We called Steph to offer her a free meal for all her help, but got no reply. We thought about inviting other people, but thought it would be too last minute. Instead, we grabbed a crossword puzzle and headed out. When we got there, as we were being seated we were surprised to find Mike, Karen, and Lisa. They were kind enough to let us join their table and so we did.
After a little while Steph and Matt called to say they were on their way; this was turning out to be quite the social evening and the crossword puzzle was getting no attention.
We were absolutely enjoying ourselves when the next turn of events threw me for a loop. In arrives Dave, Katie, Dan, Ryan and his girlfriend (I'm sorry I can't remember your name :( ) and eventually Jesse, someone else, Marc and Sadie -- my friends.
Now, to be perfectly honest, it didn't bother me in the slightest that we weren't invited. This happens. What bothered me, and I realized it in the car as we left, is that there is someone in that group that has harrassed me about not being invited to things and feeling left out. Someone who is very concious of invitations. Someone that I am most certainly sure would have organized that little get together. That bothers me.
I'm over it, but I thought, hey -- this is what live journal is for, right? To post one's thoughts about events, even minor. Well, those are my thoughts about last night.
