I finally figured out how to enjoy "Futurama," I think: don't expect it to be funny. It's clever, and sometimes very sad, but I was screwing it up by assuming that all the parts that strike me as awkward are meant to be hilarious. Once I decided it might be awkward on purpose I was more accepting.
Leela kind of sucks, but so does Fry, so it's possible they'll be quite happy together. (If the episode where Leela gets stung by a space bee has not convinced you they should try, you have no heart.) And as a longtime watcher of "The X-Files," I know the distinction you're drawing and I'm still mad about it. Or would be. Had they not oozed conspiratorial alien eye goo all over my good will.
Dude in my office commented that Madonna appears to be planning a remake of Casablanca, and when I said I'd be more worried if I'd ever seen it, he frrrrreaked. I'm sorry Madonna is spoiling everything for you, dude in my office.
