My life recently has gotten to the point that my own mother is starting to worry about me; not that I’m doing anything wrong, you understand, but I don’t seem to be doing much of anything. In the last, say, two weeks, I haven’t woven, haven’t walked, haven’t, as she put it, "done anything obsessively" (i.e. to fruition). Instead, I’ve watched ( Read more... )

fuck me, i don't know what to do with this post.

wait.

yes i do.

i've been watching my share of tv down here, because, you know, it's educational. language adquisition and whatnot. anywho...
a company called Knorr is the Campbells of latin america, but has infinitely better commercials. i like this one series of them, which i have dubbed "the clara and vladimir saga."
you see, clara is on the janitorial staff at some big company. she's quite pretty in the latin american way: long dark hair, slender, big dark eyes, and demure. well, one evening she is cleaning the conference room. she accidentally hits the conference phone and next thing she knows, she's video conferencing with a janitor in moscow. she hangs up, but the next night she does it again. you then see moscow dude waiting for her. they exchange names (clara and vladimir) and arrange to have dinner the next night. this is where soup comes in, as the two sit there having a video conferenced dinner.
the next commercial, they're having dinner again. they start point to objects naming them. woo hoo, they teach each other their language. it's cute and ends with vladimir saying "amor".
the final commericial, clara calls vladimir for the usual dinner. when it picks up, he's standing there with musicians, and they are singing a russian song to her. vladimir then asks her, in spanish, if she wants to marry him. she says yes. whee! i almost cried :)

i think you would enjoy tv down here.
