Day 29
Weight: 213 lbs
Thought for the Day: We could all do a little more
Liz, a friend of mine, died today of cancer. She was the wife of a Dan a collegue from my work. She was diagnosed when I was away in Asia so I found out when I got back. Dan is a very cheerful person and has been so strong while going through the ordeal. Such a short time 3 months.
The first time Rose and I met Liz was at Halloween in 1999, some work people decided to dress up and go down to the East Village Halloween Parade. Rose and I were dressed as tree-hugging, vegan hippies. They had a little girl named Eleanor who terrorized Sebastian on my 30th birthday Rose had planned a secret murder mystery dress up party for me. We each had roles Dan being a Cardinal and Liz being a Librarian. Their daughter Eleanor was barely walking but was intrigued by Sebastian's soft fur and keep walking around after him.
When death touches our lives, there is always that unbidden feeling - we could have done a little more. I am glad I am eating a well-balanced diet and nursing myself back to health from years of neglect.
My thoughts are with Dan and Eleanor.
