Day 23
Weight: 215 lbs
Thought for the Day: Food for thought
For Cinco De Mayo we decided to take-out Ethiopian food back to the house and had Sara, Zach and Lucy over for dinner. During the day I was out of the gates at the crack of 11 am and promptly went to the YMCA to go swimming. The swimming is going well since my arms don't burn anymore and my shorts don't fall down below my knees. I am still not up to the strength levels of high school where I swam morning, afternoon and evening and developed webbed feet and gills. For now I have been swimming 3 sets of progressively harder swimming, taking 4 laps at 50%, 4 at 60$... 70%,80% and finally 4 laps of all out 'make it or break it' thrashing in the pool. Then a cool down of 4 laps of relaxing breast stroke and then I repeat the set another two times. It's a very good motivator and gives swimming some regiment and purpose rather than idly sloshing back and forth doing 'lazy laps' The set takes me about 20-25 minutes. I mowed the lawn for good measure when I got home.
The evening meal was great, although we ordered enough to feed a Roman Legion. The portions looked misleadingly small but we were soon overwhelmed with the plate of food. It's great to take out and we didn't have to wash up so much silver ware since you eat with your fingers. We played the board game Ticket to Ride after wards and I got my butt kicked all over the board.
I have noticed I tend to eat bigger meals on the weekends since we are out and about a lot and I don't want to stop in at a gas station or fast food place to grab some very unhealthy food. We prepared so much food I think I will be eating hummus and carrots, grapes, edamame and baby green salad for the next few days. The only thing fully consumed was the wine, 2 bottles of Pinot Noir from Oregon (Duck Pond).
