Born to Cache!

Day 10: 1/4 done!
Weight: 221
Thought for the Day: Don't get too comfortable with who you are at any given time - you may miss the opportunity to become who you want to be.

Some inspiring crap above that quote! Anyways, there has been a geocaching to-do on my list for a while now. It's called the Tour De Cache. The objective is to find a geocache in each of the 21 New Jersey counties. The game started in August 2006 so any caches before then don't count. They have to be regular sized, no itsy bitsy ones. Back in the fall I traveled with Maggie, Claire and Rose and we found caches in all the southern counties. I have been chipping away at it, but still couldn't find time to finish the 7 counties I had not done. Today was the day I felt I needed to finish as many as possible, the weather was perfect 77 degrees and the dam cat woke me up at 6:27 am (such a pain in the arse) that I had more than a full day to attempt some of them. I packed light with two 32oz nalgene water bottles and a bag of nuts and dried fruit. Little did I know that would be my downfall.

I drove to the first cache and all was well, the second cache was a breeze, the problem lay with the third cache. The area of the geocache was very wet, and hard to navigate, what was worse was the nuts and dried fruit (with lots of water) had done me in and I needed to goto the bathroom badly! I ended up not finding the cache and quickly pulled in to the only available toilet I found in the area a porta-john. I am not a religious man but I did look quickly into the sky and said a short prayer for my life, held my breath and entered the sauna. I aged 10 years in there and but came out a new man... enuf said.

Found the other 3 caches over 40 miles of driving on and realized I was 60 miles from home and it was 2:30 in the afternoon. A great day of cache although I only walked about 4 miles all told. The weather was great and I needed to drink all of the water. Saw 3 Dairy Queens on the way home, they should do us a favor and just ban them along with McDonalds (saw 5) and Burger King (saw 3). Yuck! So I headed for home. Crashed into the house to use the bathroom yet again. And got prepared for the evening geocaching event.

I arrived in good time to the MGB steakhouse (my second in two days) and immediately sought the salads knowing full well there was nothing else I could eat. I can't even have onion rings since the batter uses eggs. I also haven't tasted bread in 10 days and when it was served it did smell good. Looking over the menu most of it actually revolts me, I am not sure how people eat that sort of stuff all the time. Settled for a house salad and a side of fries (making sure they were cooked in vegetable oil first). Drinking just water with lemon is actually paying off good dividends, not only does it help fill me up, it reduces my wish to have a coke or even a beer (well not really, but almost).

So two days at two steakhouses, I feel I can take on any eatery! Eating Vegan is cheaper than meat, but I have found that we have tended to dine out more often so overall the expenses have been higher. And we still have a fridge full of soy milk and other vegetables. So we shall have to eat at home the next couple of days.

The cats really hate us since we usually feed them tidbits and since they are not keen on beans or chick peas.
