Character Name: BLU Sniper || Mason Mundy (Canonly he only has a last name so I'm inventing a first name for him to avoid confusion with his RED counterpart.)
Character Series: Team Fortress 2
Character Age: No official age is given but he's about 37
Background: Wiki Link

But to sum it all up: “In his former life as a tracker of dangerous game in the unforgiving Australian outback, the Sniper would spend months by himself. Prolonged isolation taught him a valuable lesson: You don't have to rely on other people if you never miss.”

Since that's basically all the canon we get here's some supplemental headcanon:

Sniper grew up with a set of incredibly overbearing parents who constantly pushed him towards getting a 'real' job and settling down with a wife and some kids in a nice suburban setting. Instead he ran off into the bush with just a rifle and some provisions. He enjoyed the solitude and not having any responsibility except to himself. He learned to track game and became an amazing shot with his rifle.

Several years later he was recruited by BLU to become what he terms an 'assassin' and to hunt down any members of the opposing organization RED. It pays well, he gets to remain mostly alone, and he's a man who really enjoys his work. He still keeps in touch with his parents regularly, though they're less than pleased about his career choice even though he makes more money than any doctor.

It's a point of personal pride with him to never miss a shot. Unlike most members of BLU he's not assigned to any one base or any one team, traveling around to hunt down certain people. This adds to his isolation as he's never in one place long enough to get to know anyone.

Personality: Sniper is distant and grouchy. A life of shooting things from afar has made him avoid social interaction and because of that the rest of the team doesn't view him as much of a team player. He almost never smiles, as the only real thing he enjoys is getting a perfect headshot. Good at what he does he's also an insufferable showoff, making sure everyone knows that he was the one that shot/killed them. He prides himself on being polite and efficient, so he wouldn't attack anyone without provocation, and because he always maintains a calm composure it takes quite a lot to antagonize him.

The only exceptions are Spies. He has a fierce distrust of them, even the ones on his own team. Mostly because they're responsible for ruining his shots and backstabbing him when he's focused on lining up his scope. That scar across his left cheek is a constant reminder to always be vigilant against spies sneaking up on him.

Sniper is constantly getting harassed by his team and outside of work. His own father calls him a crazed gunman and it's a running joke among the team to tell him to run five miles away so that he can shoot them. He avoids most of them as much as possible, living in a camper and keeping to himself. They're also fond of antagonizing him about Jarate, a weapon mostly consisting of his own urine in a jar. It's a completely viable defensive weapon and his attitude is, if it's good enough for Saxton Hale, it's good enough for anyone else. However, he's fully aware of what Jarate actually is and he's not going to just throw it around for fun. He's not a savage.

For all his anti-social tendencies he doesn't actually hate people and can be civil to just about anyone, including members of the opposite team. He considers RED and BLU just people doing their jobs so he doesn't hold any resentment towards members of RED with the exception of Spies who he feels are killing people and taunting them for fun. He does have a softer side but it rarely comes out. And while he really does enjoy all the solitude and quiet, he occasionally wants to have something other than just passing acquaintances who he never even bothers to learn the names of. He'd be fiercely loyal to anyone he considered a friend, but it would be difficult to become friends with him in the first place.

He's also a heavy smoker, addicted to coffee (decaf that is), and never wants to be more than about three feet away from his rifle at any time. He's always armed, even going so far as to sleep with a kukri under his pillow just in case of a sudden Spy attack. He could be considered twitchy and paranoid about Spies, but really he's just being cautious and considering what Spies are like, it wouldn't be surprising at all if one of them tried to backstab him while he was sleeping.

Abilities: He's not just bragging when he says he never misses. He really is an amazing shot with his rifle and also with a bow. However in close quarters it's easy to overpower him as he's tall and skinny and not very strong. While he has a knife, he's not that great with it, but anyone getting that close to him and attacking him runs the risk of getting covered in piss jarate.

Sample Entry:
*Sniper has put out a call to everyone in the town, just to be polite.*

Gonna do some practice shots. Jus' wanted t' let th' town know so yoi don't come runnin' thinking I went troppo and started pickin' off pedestrians.

I'll be in that big field on th' edge 'f town 'bout six hundred feet from my targets so don't go walkin' in front of me neither. Noit getting' paid t' take yoir head off.

*He grumbles something angry about giving up his location over a public network and then hangs up the phone.*

Revised Sample
Well, you knew that was bound t' happen. 'F course I'm similar t' th' RED bloke, we're both bloody good shots an' got impeccable aim. 'Cept I'm better. Make sure t' include that in th' rewrite.

What do you mean there's more t' a personality section than my gun skills? You jus' stick t' what's important. An' that's my kill t' headshot ratio.

Which is a roight sight better than th' RED sniper's.

RED vs BLU Personality Update
Sniper's early life was spent in a small town in Australia and was fairly average. Shooting was a hobby he developed when he was quite young in order to have something to occupy his time. Considering where he lived it wasn't hard to sneak off and line up some cans in a tree without anyone interfering or asking where the hell he got a gun in the first place. His parents were a bit suspicious when all the money he earned mysteriously disappeared on bullets and hats. But they never expected that he'd end up in America as a hired gunman.

In his youth he wasn't good at making friends and always felt a bit different than everyone else since he wasn't as big and muscular as most Australians. (nor did he have a mustache). Instead he was tall and slender, perfect for hiding and picking off wild game, not so great for punching crocodiles in the face like most Australians do. (Valve has some strange ideas about what goes on in the outback of Australia.) Once upon a time he had every intention of settling down and having a normal life, kids, house in the suburbs, a dog, all of that. He was even engaged at one point until his girl ran off with someone who resembled Saxton Hale. After that he decided that social interaction just wasn't really worth it and retreated into the outback.

He's professionally polite to everyone as a buffer to keep people at bay. He doesn't deal well with emotions so he goes out of his way to act like he doesn't have any. Actually, he'd like to have some friends, but he's so socially awkward and presents an outward personality of grouchiness that he doesn't know how to begin to make them. He's also emotionally fragile and resistant to letting anyone get too close. He wasn't always so jumpy and paranoid, but he's been in BLU almost 10 years now and in that time he's had more than his share of Spies backstabbing him and making him twitchy. He tries to not let it show, but Spies, BLU or RED, really terrify him. He hates the ease with which they can kill him and resents their gloating over it. But more than that, they've put him in a constant state of tense jitteriness since they can strike at any time.

He knows he's good at sniping, but in everything else he's a mess of low self-confidence. His job brings out his competitive nature and he really enjoys being the best on his team, but more than that he strives to always be better than the RED Sniper. Even though it's just a job, there's an ingrained rivalry there to be the best at what he does, as if that will make his parents proud of him and make him feel like he fits in with rest of Australia. Maybe he's still trying to prove himself to his ex-fiance.

He grudgingly respects his RED counterpart, partially because they're both Australian and he has pride in his heritage. But also because they're both good shots and for the most part equally matched, though he'd never admit it. He goes out of his way to take down the other Sniper when he's fighting just to prove that he's better than them. It's a good day at work when he has more headshots then RED Sniper. It's an amazing day if he doesn't get backstabbed. That would be worth celebrating with some of the Demoman's scrumpy.

As seen here BLU Sniper is left handed. He was also attacked by RED Spy and sports a deep scar across his left cheek. These are the only real physical distinctions between him and RED Sniper. (Although in game they're both right-handed and scarred, in the behind the scenes videos BLU is left handed and has the scar).
