Doctors, Fiction, and Menu

So, I just completed melted down last week after seeing my gynecologist. We're still not really sure why, although the ideas I suggested here were certainly some of the reasons (basically, doctors). Anyway, I am more or less convinced myself to calm down a little about that. I plan on going to the endocrinologist I saw before, so I won't have to explain my situation to someone new. I've also convinced myself that I don't need to discuss every possible problem with her. At this point, I can just talk about the main ones, which are within my linguistic limits. This fits well with my goal of learning to be more concise. I want to just brain dump at her and have her sort out all my blood sugar issues. However, that isn't what doctors are good at. If they are good at anything, they are good at linking a set of symptoms to an illness and then working to resolve that illness using known techniques. I'm treating them like really dedicated programmers who will debug some code come hell or high water. That is not a realistic expectation. I've also decided that if I redo the Duolingo Russian course, then I will be doing something that reminds me of Russian grammar and forces me to occasionally speak Russian aloud. I think that my anxiety about my ability to communicate is blowing my communication problems out of proportion. Duolingo seems to be helping calm me down.

In other news, Happy Goblinization Day! I really love the Shadowrun setting, and I also really love crazy predicted futures, so this is pretty great for me.

Speaking of that, I'm making great progress with writing, especially with the shorter piece I'm working on based on Fallout 4. This has really inspired me to think about working on the other short stories I have plans for, once this Fallout 4 one is done. One of them is set in Shadowrun: Hong Kong. I'm considering writing something that is a crossover between Dragon Age 2 and Shadowrun, although that one would be longer. Still, there are a lot of fun things I could write. Not everything has to be hundreds of thousands of words. So, that is all very positive and fun.

I'm also starting to get more into reading/playing choose your own adventure-type stories. This one is just great!

Other than that, I'm very busy, which I'm not happy about. However, I'm going to take a vacation from doctors for the rest of May after I see the endocrinologist. Unfortunately, I expect that dealing with immigration will take up all the extra time that I gain.

In crappier news, Russia has put further limits on the US embassy. We lost our consulate in St. Petersburg, and now the embassy in Moscow is going to have really really reduced services. So, that sucks. Of course, the Russian government totally has the right to do this, and I am living as a guest here, so it isn't like I have some kind of legal right that I can stamp my foot angrily about. Nonetheless, this escalation combined with the fuss about Navalny just makes our situation here seem that much less secure. (I'm not stressed about this, by the way. I stress about using the phone, not having to flee the country.) Of course, I hope that all will be well and that we will continue to live quietly in Russia until we choose on our own to leave. However, it would be foolish to not plan for the worst.

Now, back to the part of daily life that is less related to international politics.
