I have been doing pretty well. My stomach has been sensitive and sometimes quite painful, but I think it is getting better. However, about two hours ago, I read a message from the former head of the sick Peace Corps volunteers group, and she seemed to be saying that she is interested in getting back involved again. Honestly, I expected this. She is ill and has a poor memory, so she doesn't remember why she stopped doing things or why they are a bad idea. Also, she loves to be the center of attention. Since she is ill and not entirely functional, she is also terrible at administrative tasks, like running a group for sick volunteers. Our personalities did not mesh, and she occasionally would ask me to do things for the group with no warning or information about what was going on. In the end, when she quit being in charge, I had to find people to replace her. It was incredibly stressful for me. (Also, I don't get along with one of the new people either.) Needless to say, I think her having anything to do with the new group will do exactly what it did before: drive everyone away and make the group unable to function. I told her clearly (and as calmly as I could) that I thought this was a terrible idea. And then I had an anxiety attack. To try to get as far away from this as possible, I pointed her at another person who she can contact to get in touch with the new leadership and asked her not to talk to me about it any further. Ugh. I probably should just cut ties with her. (I'm not blaming her, by the way. I am an adult, and one way or another, my mental health is my own responsibility.)
