Spoilers: None, although there is a reference to "Pottering", which is from the S8 premiere (though this is set roughly around S4; I imagine Gus had been Pottering for years).
Summary: When a member of Gus’s book club dies suddenly, Shawn and Gus are on the case!
“Oh, you are good,” Mason said. “Why have you never come to book club with Gus before?”
“Spencer never progressed past Go, Dog, Go,” Lassiter said snidely.
Trixietru is not only delightful, but her writing makes me feel as though I've fallen into a Psych episode, one of the reeeeeeally good ones with awesomely quotable lines and a perfect sprinkle of pop culture and Oh do I love how the author portrays Gus, because GUS IS SO GUS HE'S PERFECTLY GUS. Do I make sense? I sometimes feel like Gus is a barometer in Psych fics, like, Shawn and Lassie are very set characters, but you have to get Gus right to make things really work and not feel off.
Gus had just opened his mouth to ask what the others thought about Offred and the commander playing Scrabble together when Hazel Kershner clutched her throat, gasped for breath, and collapsed face-first into the cheese platter that Callie had bought for their meeting (which Gus privately thought was a bit weak; there wasn't even any brie).
See what I mean? Perfect.
I knew withing the first paragraph of this fic that I'd want to do a vintage book cover of some sort and I even got to dig up old Hardy Boys book covers, and boy did I find a lot of info on those! I really had fun making the art for this fic and Trixietru was always a delight even if I procrastinated a lot, because apparently there is a lot of walruss-ing to be done in summer. Hope you guys go read this awesome awesome fic of awesomeness and leave the author lots of pineapples ;)
