Universe, Thank You

When I bought my car in November, it came with a three-month trial subscription to Sirius.  I don't usually listen to music when I drive; I usually have the radio off, in fact.  But I got used to having Sirius and in fact used the radio far more than I had for years.

I did not elect to get a paid subscription.  Sirius worked for about four months and then stopped (just in time for Rabid and the kids' road-trip to Florida).  I was sad, but I've gotten used to not having it.

Last night, Rabid used my car while I ran an errand in the truck (delivering the big-top for a party this weekend).  This morning, I got in the car and the radio was on FM.  Rabid knows that I'm OCD about having the controls returned to specific settings when I get out of the car so she does her small part to try to desensitize me.

Before I had the chance to turn off the radio, the display flashed at me; Hall & Oates was playing someplace.  I was quizzical for a moment; I had no idea that the Sirius alerts worked with the FM radio; how would such a feature be implemented?

I pressed the button.  "I Can't Go For That" flowed out of the speakers.  The display indicated I was listening to a satellite station.

I've had some Siouxie, Clash, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics.  It's very nice.  I have no idea what's going on or how long it will last but I am totally enjoying it for now.

I had forgotten that with the windows down, roof open, and radio blaring that it is hard to hear the radar detector.  The police officer that lit me up did not pull me over though I would not have considered it at all unreasonable of him to ticket me; I have no idea how fast I was going when I realized I was pwned.  He did give me a stern, disapproving look, though, rather than the usual friendly wave, so I think I might have been moving right along.

Yesterday I had an interview for an employer and project that I would actually be interested in.  Or; I thought it was a second interview.  Turns out it was a strategizing session; if the project is executed, it sounds like I will be involved.  I don't want to jinx it so won't say more than that now.

So, yeah, thanks for a great 24 hours, Universe.
