Personal History: Jessie Conley was born in South Carolina and grew up on sweet tea and hush puppies. She had a fairly uneventful childhood, spending most of her time outdoors. That being said, she is by no means a nature freak, thank you, she likes spending time shopping, watching movies, and sleeping as much a the next girl. She has a closer relationship with her family than most teenagers, and has especially been close with her mother. Her mother has always been a source of inspiration for Jessie. Annie was the top runner in the county when she was Jessie’s age. Already being recruited for college, her dream was ended when she was involved in a terrible car crash. The other driver had been inebriated. The doctors had to amputate Annie’s right leg, and they doubted she would ever be able to walk, no less run, again. To everyone’s surprise, Annie went on, not only to walk, but was able to run again after several years of physical therapy. Although she never got to compete in college, she ran everyday since the accident, because she now realized how much more running meant to her. When Jessie was younger, her mother reminded her of super-woman and she aspired to be just like her. That probably explains why she picked up running at such a young age. She played soccer and basketball on the school teams, but by no means was a super star. Eventually, when she reached middle school and cross-country was a sport option, she went with her gut and tried out for the team. The next three years went by perfectly. She was the star of the cross-country and track teams, yet her humble attitude and willingness to work her tail off gained her the respect of her coaches and teammates. She formed a very close relationship with her high school coach, whom she claims should be nominated for saint hood. Although, like most teens, Jessie had her bouts of angst, but in general she was a very happy, bright, and well-adjusted girl. Things started to go wrong during her sophomore year of high school. Her speed was beginning to increase unnaturally, and it seemed to require no effort on her part to maintain the pace of an Olympic male. She rarely broke a sweat after practices or meets. Confused and terrified by this new development, Jessie became a nervous wreck. The girls she raced against, her coach, and even her teammates all looked at her like she was some kind of freak. She didn’t understand what was happening, or how to stop it. She kept running though, not wanting to give up her favorite aspect of life, nor disappoint her mother. Her mother didn’t quit when she lost her leg, and Jessie certainly wasn’t going to quit because of…this. Rumors started flying about Jessie and her racing integrity, and in her last meet of the season, the championship, she was disqualified and thrown off of the team for cheating. The look of fury on the officials face, and the resentment in her teammates’ eyes, were no match for the disappointment of her mother and coach.

That’s when her first mental breakdown happened. Dylan’s side of the family has a long history of depression and anxiety disorders, and until then, they had been relieved that none of their children seemed to have any problems. Jessie had a nervous breakdown within a week of being kicked off of the team. Her parents kept her at home for a while, but when it was apparent that she wasn’t getting any better and could barely leave her room without hyperventilating, they began to discuss sending her away. Not for good, they promised, but just until she got the help she needed. Luckily, Storm found her around that time and took her away. Now, after spending almost a year at Xavier’s Academy, Jessie is reverting back to her happy-go-lucky self. She’s beginning to become more social and carefree, the way she was before the incident. Although she is still very prone to anxiety attacks, they are becoming far less severe and she is able to work through them. Her relationship with her mother is still awkward, and she still yearns to run. That’s her deepest desire from the program. To retrain herself to run without using her powers. Then she can go home and run with her mom again, and everything will go back to being okay.
Personality: Jessie is a happy-go-lucky southern girl. She’s giggly and cheerful and enthusiastic about everything. Sometimes she can seem over the top, but she’s usually good about not coming off too strong. She’s a sweet kid, and always sees the good in everyone, although she can be fairly innocent and naïve when it comes to judging character. She’s a very idealistic girl; her family values were imprinted on her brain: loyalty, integrity, modestly, dedication, and so on. Although she can seem like the typical ditzy teenage girl sometimes (she certainly has a knack for sounding like a dumb blonde), Jessie is fairly bright and catches onto new concepts easily. She’s a diligent worker and likes to sweat (metaphorically speaking, that is, she doesn’t really enjoy sweating in real life. It’s icky.) It’s a runner thing, she says, grinning and reiterating her coach’s idea of cross-country carrying over into life. One of her major faults is worrying about what other’s think of her. Because she holds herself and others to such high ideals, she is totally neurotic about following them to a tee. Having her morality questioned is like kicking a puppy. She tears up, tenses up, and practically has a nervous breakdown if the rumors continue. Especially if there’s talk about her cheating. The C-word is a major no-no. Jessie is a happy, hopeful, idealistic girl, but her idealism gets her in trouble often. She is very open about almost everything, and leaves herself defenseless to emotional attacks. She gets hurt easily, but is also of the ‘forgive and forget’ mindset. She’s an invaluable friend and a bit of a tool sometimes.
Strengths: Very fast and agile - good at dodging/evading attacks Weaknesses: Very poor in offensive Fears: The dark, sharks and gators, not being able to uphold her moral standards

Physical Description: Jessie is the definition of cute girl next door. She’s slim and bordering on the short side (5’4”), with a heart shaped face. She had blonde, slightly wavy, hair that she either wears short or up in a ponytail. Her eyes are about as blue as they come and are almost always laughing. Being a Southern girl, she spends lots of time in the sun, and almost always has a tan. She likes to wear bright colors and cute clothes. Nothing expensive or formal, please. She generally likes a cute tee-shirt from Target or a similar store and a pair of jeans or shorts. Alignment: Jessie just wants everyone to get along!
---- Sample RP:
Bouncing lightly on her toes, Jessie waited anxiously for the gun to go off. Although she was fairly confident in her running ability, the start of the race always gave her little butterflies in her stomach. She grinned at her teammate and best friend, Sam, standing next to her. “Ready?” She asked, tightening the tie on her ponytail. “I think I’m going to be sick.” Sam said, looking at her with a deadpan expression. Jessie laughed and squeezed her friend arm. “You’ll be fine, Sam-o! You’re going to do great! I think we really got a shot at this one!” “You always say that, Jess,” she replied, rolling her eyes. “Alrighty- the starter’s there. Good luck! I’ll see you at the finish line.” “Godspeed,” Jessie whispered, raising her eyes to the gun. The official yelled two commands and then fired. With a burst of energy, Jessie took up. She smile faintly, feeling her legs tense and relax beneath her as she sped forwards. This was where she belonged.
