ICON COMMENTS (Icon # here)
01: (-04) + (+02) = -02
- the crop is unflattering the "dark" face compared to the rest makes it hard to find a focus
- the top part of the icon makes it seem odd (is that the border of the image or..?)
- The other two images which use a closer crop (and slightly clearer focus) stand out more, and work better composition wise.
- the crop is a little awkward and cut off his eye.

02: (-02) + (+01) = -01
- the icon could have used a bit more contrast
- The icon lacks contrast and sharpness.
+ I like used texture, it make so soft looking.
03: (-02) + (+03) = +01
- Not enough contrast and the smoky texture only makes it worse.
- the background of the icon looks oversharped and draws attention away from the main part of the icon
+ Nice cropping and contrast. The lightness at the top juxtaposes nicely with the dark bits at the bottom.
+ The icon captures the mood perfectly. Simple yet awesome :)

04: (-02) + (+01) = -01
- The frame texture thing doesn't really suit the image.
- Frame is overpowering, a bit blurry.
+ Great crop and great defining of the image. The simplicity is really pleasing to the eye.
05: (-04) + (+02) = -02
- crop is awkward
- Nice contrast, but the cropping is awkward. A bit too much of his face is cut off, making it look like all nose and weird eyes.
- a bit fuzzy, uninteresting cropping
- Awkward cropping.
+ interesting crop with just the right amount of contrast.
+ lovely crop, the icon looks balanced
06: (-04)
- The light textures do not complement the image and the contrast is a bit dull.
- The icon is too blurry. The details of her face are not very distinct.
- the textures in the background moves your eye away from the image.
- the icon is too dark and looks oversharped, the light texture doesn't fit the icon
07: (-03) + (+01) = -02
- too small a crop (too much detail lost) and it's a bit too dark
- a bit too sharp; the stretching at the top is muddy looking and awkward
- It took me a while to figure out what the image was. The umbrella/lady is so small. I think a better crop would have work more advantageously for this image.
+ good contrast.
08: (-01) + (+01) = 00
- Crop is strange, it is too simple, and compositions look boring.
+ nice crop and contrast is good
