Newspapers online

With so many newspapers folding (npi) or cutting back delivery days I have been looking for alternatives to get my daily news and comics fix.

Someone pointed out that the Detroit Free Press was posting PDFs of their paper on a web site and I noticed that they have an alternate site for the Detroit News. So I have been reading both online.

They have done a great job with navigation as well as capturing the user interface of a traditional paper. So much so, that I am even considering subscribing. (They are doing a much better job than my local paper which as far as I can tell is just putting stories up randomly on their web site and offer no comics at all.)

Of course, the News and Free Press are ending their free demo as of April 30. So it is pay up or give up.

But, I discover that I really do not want a physical paper. Their e-edition interface that good. (They even have a way for you to print the crossword puzzles on your printer!)

So anyone want to get a physical subscription to the Detroit News and let me have the e-edition?

In any case, check out the News and Free Press digital editions at these web sites--but hurry, you only have until Thursday.
