"Revenge is a dish best served cold."
That is a quote we hear often, whether it be in movies, T.V. shows, or books. Revenge is an emotion that is relate-able to anyone. There isn't a person in the whole who can't understand the feeling of wanting to get back at another for a wrong doing. However, even though it is understandable, society tends to look down at the word "revenge". People tend to say it is wrong in itself. They say that the evil in this world will get what's coming to them. Well, may I ask how?
The reason revenge is so easy for people to understand is that we allow it to slip into our lives...but under an alias. We dress it up, polish it a bit, and give it a new name...we call it "Justice". No human being can forgo their primal instinct. It is in our nature to "right a wrong". Granted the words "right" and "wrong" are relative, but it's the principle that's under the microscope here.
What is Justice? Justice is when a bad guy is brought to the court, sentenced if guilty, and thrown in jail....correct?
What is Revenge? Revenge is when a bad guy is brought down via murder, prison, etc.
Anyone else see a running trend here?
Justice is society's shiny version of revenge. Justice is revenge that the public is OK with. Justice is the excuse we give for our desire to pull the switch.
So I ask you...is there a difference?
justice,
revenge,
difference
