What Do You Have To Say? - It's A Tradition

Dec 19, 2007 15:51

I feel like there's no way to say this without sounding like a Scrooge, which I'm not. There are a lot of things about Christmas that I can't stand. First of all, I hate Christmas trees. They annoy the hell out of me.
Second, I hate people during the holidays. Most of them are pretending to be nice and friendly because they feel like it's their obligation, and that's ridiculous. I hate that people feel like they need a REASON to be nice. Why do they til the end of the year to show their loved ones how they feel? It's retarded.
Most children don't even know what Christmas is "supposed" to stand for. Most children have absolutely no idea that it's suppose to represent Jesus' birthday. Now, I'm not a Christian, but I still respect most things about Christianity, therefore it bothers me.

Now don't get me wrong, I like Christmas well enough, but it's an excuse and I hate what its become. I don't need an excuse to drink, buy things for people, or tell the people I love that I love them. I can do that any day of the year.

what do you have to say?, writer's block, holiday tradition, hpholiday2
