Photos: mushrooms!

I do love mushroom-gathering, and due to weather conditions I didn't get to do it much this year at the lakeside. I jumped at an invitation to do so in the forests near Warsaw, and while our haul wasn't too impressive - we got there a little too late in the day - I got a lot of photos of the inedible mushrooms people left behind :)

Mushrooms! I don't like how they taste, but I love how they look. Wonderful pictures, thanks for posting. :)

I only like a select few (mostly the kinds you add to meat), but the prettiness is astounding :) It's hard to believe those are natural.

My mum used to pick mushrooms here in Canada (on the premise that most of the safe ones are the same) and make raw mushroom soup with them.

One time I had a bowl full of the soup and went over to a neighbour's place - being a hyperactive teenager I was bouncing off the walls figuratively speaking. The neighbour jokingly told my mum that she must have put some 'psychedelic mushrooms' in the soup.

Unfortunately mum got worried and decided not to pick mushrooms anymore - that and as she got older she got more and more scared of going in the woods by herself and getting lost. :(

Pity - in my family mushroom-gathering is a bonding activity. We go to the forest in large groups and bitch when there's nothing to be found ;) This year, mid-August was so wet that there's a bumper-crop of mushrooms, so I foresee a lot of mushroom dishes throughout September.

Thanks :) Kind of makes up for the fact I only found 7 edible ones.

The mushrooms are really pretty and all, but... but... HUSKY! *attaches to him and pets him and doesn't let go*

Lovely, isn't he? :) Boris has some behavioural issues when he's with his owners at times, mostly due to the fact he doesn't get too much exercise (huskies = not appartment kind of dogs), but he's a complete sweetie when he knows I won't give in to his every whim. All my clothes are covered in dog fur on account of Boris cuddling me in the car.

I just adore huskies. The only reason I don't own one is that he would be miserable in an apartment. They need lots of space they can run around in. And a hell lot of grooming. Yeah, i am so familiar with them... maybe because I'm usually glued to their stand when they have the local dog show. *sweatdrops* But damn, they're so pretty!

I know, I'm the same - they're CUTE :D But really, not lapdogs in the slightest - Boris gets four+ hours of exercise per day and that's borderline for keeping a husky in good condition IIRC, not to mention that between two people with full-time jobs it doesn't leave them time for much else to do. Plus he's miserable during heatwaves.

(Grooming might be a good idea. Maybe then he wouldn't bloody shed all over me :P)

Poisonous mushrooms should be forbidden from looking that adorable. On the other hand, I'm now wishing I had the Photoshop skills to put some faeries in the pictures :P

Eating the red one with the white spots is said to make you see your own faeries ;)
