From the altfriday5:

1. Do you celebrate any holidays in December? If yes, which ones, and why? If no, why not?
I celebrate any that involve me being invited to group events by my friends or family. That usually means Christmas.

2. How does the celebration of Christmas affect you (e.g., I like it, because it's my holiday; It doesn't affect me one way or the other; I hate it, because it symbolizes the socio-political dominance of Christianity, etc.)? Or, if Christmas is not the dominant December holiday where you live, how does the celebration of the dominant holiday affect you?
It doesn't really affect me in a particular way. I attended very conservative churches when I was younger, and found their insistence that Christmas is solely a Christian holiday to be amusing. I don't see harm in organizing much of the consumerism of the year into a short period of time, as opposed to spread throughout the year. The over-the-top spending doesn't seem to happen a great deal among my circle of friends and family; people spend a little on other people, but less than they could. Spending on less-perishable items than otherwise possible doesn't encourage consumption.

3. What do you feel Christmas is or has become (e.g. a secular holiday, a religious holiday, a celebration of consumption, etc.)?
More of a secular holiday and possibly a celebration of consumption.

4. Will you be giving any holiday gifts this year? If yes, to whom? In total, did you spend more or less this year than last year?
I spent slightly more this year on gifts, to several friends and my immediate family.

5. If you could change one thing about how your December holiday(s) is(are) celebrated, what would it be? Or, if you don't celebrate any, if you could change one thing about how the dominant holiday is celebrated, what would it be?
I wouldn't know where to start with the national celebration of Christmas. Perhaps giving to benefit organizations should become an annual event. I spend enough time with my family. Perhaps more time spent with friends would be the most important aspect.
