From thefridayfive:
1. What kind of computer do you have? (Mac, iBook, Dell, etc.)
custom-built PCs.

2. How old is it? Are you happy with it?
Most recent (my desktop) is about 4 years old. I could use more harddrive space, but that's all that I'm willing to endow it with.
Oldest is 10 years old, with all the parts replaced at least once. I'm happy it's alive.

3. How many computers are in your household? (at home if you are away at school)
3 running. A few others that couldn't be assembled into a running system without parts.

4. What are your favorite games/timewasters on your computer?
The interwebs. I have played MUDs, the Sims, and some world-simulation games.

5. If money were no object, what kind of computer would you like to have?
The fastest, multiprocessor AMD64 possible, with a lot of RAM (think... more than 4 gigs). A large LCD screen, wireless ergonomic keyboard with "clicky" keys. Silent fans and cooling.

From fridayfiver:
1. What is the most important thing you've ever lost?
I can't remember. *rimshot*

2. When is the last time you lost your keys?
At least a few months ago. They don't leave my person while I'm dressed.

3. Have you ever felt like you've lost your mind?
Who told you?

4. Are you likely to ask for directions when lost or to continue to wander?
Yes. Oh, which. Um... I usually wander, I want to know what's around to find my location, and try to keep a map around if I'm going to be that lost. I've asked for directions when really lost and not meeting success.

5. Numerology: reliable or just a load of bunk?
I haven't heard or seen anything to convince me it's better at divination than statistical noise. That said, I think a lot of people are close-minded enough about the future that statistical noise is highly useful at broadening their horizons.

From the altfriday5:
1. How connected do you feel to the physical and/or social place where you live right now?
Lightly to moderately on both counts. I don't feel particularly well-grounded to them compared to other points in my life, but I'm still at home.

2. What sorts of things make you feel more connected?
Hiking, photography, seeing people that I fit in with (in any way) who've been locals for a while.

3. What sorts of things make you feel less connected?
Being left out.

4. Tell us about a time when you felt highly connected to the physical and/or social place where you lived.
Hiking in college, along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

5. Tell us about a time when you felt highly disconnected from the physical and/or social place where you lived.
none come to mind that I feel like sharing.
