‘Passing Strange’ Collaborators Prepare a Concert
Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the rock artists who created the musical “Passing Strange,” are headed to St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn for a week next month to present the world premiere of a new multimedia concert tracking their journey from dive clubs to Broadway.
The concert, “Making It,” will run Feb. 17 to 22 at St. Ann’s and be conducted by Stew, with a cycle of new songs and set and video design by Jim Findlay and Jeff Sugg. St. Ann’s commissioned the piece from Stew and Ms. Rodewald as a vehicle to explore their relationships to work, success and self-perception as critically acclaimed collaborators.
The production will feature the two artists on stage along with a band playing drums, brass, keyboard, tuba, and trombone.
