Abigail Breslin and Alison Pill Get to Work with The Miracle Worker
It’s been 50 years since William Gibson’s The Miracle Worker, the groundbreaking play about real-life deaf and blind inspiration Helen Keller and the teacher who helped her communicate with the world, first took the Broadway stage. On February 12, the play will return, bringing with it young Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin as Helen Keller and Tony Award nominee Alison Pill as her teacher, Annie Sullivan. Joining them are screen stars Matthew Modine and Jennifer Morrison in their Broadway debuts, Tony Award winner Elizabeth Franz and the directing talents of helmer Kate Whoriskey, who recently helmed Pulitzer Prize winner Ruined. We dropped in on the starry cast as they prepare to take the stage at Circle in the Square Theatre, where their show will become the first Broadway production of The Miracle Worker ever to be performed in the round.
