Casting News
- Christopher Walken, Zoe Kazan, Anthony Mackie and Sam Rockwell will star in the world premiere of Martin McDonagh's new dark comedy, A Behanding in Spokane, at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in spring 2010. Previews will begin Feb. 15 toward a March 4 opening.
- American Idol alum Ace Young will join the national tour of Grease on December 4 as Danny Zuko when the musical arrives for a five-day run at the Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, NC. Also joining the tour on December 1 are Laura D’Andre as Rizzo, Allison Fischer as Patty Simcox, Jesse JP Johnson as Doody, and Jamison Scott as Eugene.
- Brian Conley is to return to the West End cast of Hairspray from Feb. 2, 2010, to play Edna Turnblad once again. He will be newly joined by Micky Dolenz, who will play Edna's husband Wilbur.
- Casting is now complete for the Long Wharf Theatre world premiere of Darci Picoult's Lil's 90th, starring theatre veterans Lois Smith and David Margulies. Joining Smith and Margulies will be Kristine Nielsen, Nick Blaemire and Lucy Walters.

- Steppenwolf Theatre Company's new production of David Mamet's American Buffalo begins Dec. 3. Patrick Andrews plays young Bobby opposite Steppenwolf ensemble members Francis Guinan as Don and Tracy Letts as Teach.
- Judges and performers have been announced for the 21st annual Gypsy of the Year competition, to be held on December 7 and 8 at the Palace Theatre. Julie White and Seth Rudetsky will host, with a judging panel that includes Ana Gasteyer, John Glover, Montego Glover, and Jim Norton, among others. Awards for the winning presentation presentations and for companies who raise the most money will be presented by Bernadette Peters and Michael McKean. Shows scheduled to present include Billy Elliot, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Hair, Jersey Boys, Naked Boys Singing, Newsical, Mamma Mia!, Mary Poppins, Rock of Ages, Superior Donuts, West Side Story, Wicked and a joint presentation by Avenue Q and In the Heights.
- Marc Kudisch and Jeffry Denman are teaming up for a four-night stint as The Holiday Guys at Gotham Comedy Club. The show will play four consecutive Mondays (December 7, 14, 21 and 28), with Dan Lipton as musical director and accompanist.
- Ann Harada, who created the role of Christmas Eve in Avenue Q, will revisit that part next month in a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Entitled Christmas Eve With Christmas Eve, the one-night-only event will be held at The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space @ WNYC. Show time on Dec. 14 is 7 PM. Harada will be joined onstage by Paul Castree, Jeremy Davis, Raul Esparza, Andy Karl, Michael Mindlin, Christopher Sieber, John Tartaglia, Chip Zien and Norm Lewis.
- Martin Short will join fellow screen actors Ryan Reynolds and Rita Wilson for the Dec. 7 performances of Eugene Pack's Celebrity Autobiography at the Triad Theater. The evening will also include appearances by Carol Kane, Rachel Dratch, Sherri Shepherd, Scott Adsit, Steve Schirripa, Dayle Reyfel, Alan Zweibel and series creator Pack.
- The Starry Messenger, the critically acclaimed new play by Kenneth Lonergan, will get an extra week Off-Broadway, now to Dec. 19, the New Group announced.
- Mary Testa, Annie Golden and Susan Blackwell will participate in the return of The Joe Iconis Christmas Spectacular Dec. 5 and 6 at Ars Nova. John Simpkins directs a cast that will feature Testa, Golden and Blackwell, as well as Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Jason Tam, Jared Weiss, Jason "SweetTooth" Williams and more.
- Circle Mirror Transformation will have a return engagement at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater beginning December 15, with tickets on sale through January 17, 2010.
- Jason Robert Brown will headline his own cabaret show, JRB: Solo at the Beechman, on December 15 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.
