  • Seattle audiences will see the U.S. premiere of the musical Obama on My Mind - a comic look behind the scenes of an Obama campaign office in small-town America - Oct. 15-Nov. 15.
  • Tickets for Spider-Man, Turn Off The Dark - which is scheduled to open in 2010 at Broadway's Hilton Theatre - will go on sale to the general public next month.
  • Inclement weather has caused the cancellation of the New Island Festival of Dutch theatre, dance and music on Governor's Island Sept. 11.
  • Andrew Lloyd Webber will return to the BBC for another reality TV program to cast the lead in a West End musical production - this time to search for a Dorothy and Toto for a new stage version of The Wizard of Oz that he will also produce.
  • Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the Tony-winning Hairspray duo, will pen an Emmy-themed song for the upcoming Emmy Awards, according to Variety.
  • Donna McKechnie, who created the role of Cassie in the original production of A Chorus Line and won a Tony Award for her efforts, will return to the London cabaret stage next month.
  • The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award to producer-executive John Calley, and Honorary Awards to actress Lauren Bacall, producer-director Roger Corman and cinematographer Gordon Willis.

  • Additional casting has been announced for the Off-Broadway production of Inventing Avi (and other theatrical maneuvers) - starring the previously announced Alix Korey - which begins performances Oct. 2.
  • Anneliese van der Pol will star in Meet Me in St. Louis for Houston's Theatre Under the Stars beginning Sept. 29.
