- Anthony Fedorov and Diana DeGarmo will star in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, part of the 2009 summer season of musicals produced by Lyric Theatre, Oklahoma's premiere regional theatre company. Fedorov and DeGarmo will perform respectively as Joseph and the Narrator, playing from Tuesday, July 21st through Saturday, July 25th.
- Dee Roscioli, who starred in the Chicago production of Wicked, joins the cast of the Broadway production July 21 at the Gershwin Theatre.
- The Guthrie's production of Ella, the acclaimed new musical about the "First Lady of Song," begins previews at the Minnesota venue July 21. Tina Fabrique stars as Ella Fitzgerald. The production will officially open July 24; performances continue through Sept. 6.
- Theatreworks USA's 21st Annual Free Summer Theatre Program, Click, Clack, Moo, based on the children's book by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin, begins performances July 21 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Tony Award winner John Rando directs the production, which plays the Greenwich Village venue through Aug. 28. The cast feature Gretchen Bieber, Kristy Cates, Michael Thomas Holmes, Drew McVety, DeMond B. Nason and Sarah Katherine Gee.
- The 92nd Street Y's Jazz in July Festival kicks off July 21 with an evening titled Sondheim & Styne.
- The producers of Thriller - Live, the acclaimed West End concert spectacular that's been touring the UK since 2006, today announced that the show will embark on a 12-month worldwide tour, starting in Munich, Germany, from July 21 - August 2, 2009. Additional dates have also been confirmed in Barcelona, Cologne, Zurich, Vienna, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Helsinki and Berlin.
- Ken Urban's The Happy Sad, part of the third week of the Summer Play Festival, which begins performances July 21. The cast features: Christopher Abbott, Ari Graynor, Sue Jean Kim, Maulik Pancholy, Michael Stahl David, Heidi Schreck and Eddie Kay Thomas. Upcoming SPF productions follow: Departure Lounge starring: Nick Blaemire, Doug Kreeger, Kathleen Monteleone, Alex Tonetta and Jonathan B. Wright July 28-Aug. 2. We Declare You a Terrorist starring David Bishins, Keira Keeley and Katie Sigismund July 28-Aug. 2.
- The North American premiere of The Harder They Come, the new reggae-music-infused musical based on the film of the same name, about an obscure Jamaican performer hoping for stardom, begins July 21 in Toronto.
