Photo Op:  Milk Men Black and Jones Drink in the Hippie Vibe at Hair

The Academy Awards may have been four months ago, but we still get misty when we recall Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black’s moving acceptance speech: “To all the gay and lesbian kids out there…you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value and…very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights federally.” So it’s only fitting that on June 23 Black and his famous gay-activist pal Cleve Jones-he worked alongside Harvey Milk in San Francisco in the ’70s-took in Broadway’s free-love musical Hair at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. (Remember back in May when the Hair cast raised their voices in the streets of NYC to rally for marriage equality?)

Photo Op:  Hair Cast Delights Fans at Onstage CD Signing

To celebrate the official release date of its cast recording on Ghostlight Records, the entire cast of Hair stayed late after work on June 23, delighting fans by autographing their newly minted CDs directly from the stage of the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Billed as a “be in,” the event became a lively celebration of the smash-hit Broadway revival.
